My first real “mini site” has gone live today. I have been doing some research about different possible niches, good domains, affiliate programs, etc. Right now the site is running but likely won’t get any traffic for while. I have done the requisite submissions to Google Webmaster Tools and setup Google Analytics.
To do research for my niche and URL, I started playing around with Google Keyword Finder and using GoDaddy’s bulk url submission form to find terms and domains that were available. I just started with one niche idea and let things flow freely as I would search, and then another idea would come to me, or grow from a previous idea.
This site will certainly need some tweaking and probably a few additional pages, but the core is there. I’m going to wait a while and see if the search engines do anything with it. There is a specific search phrase that I am targeting, and I plan on running a blog contest and some other marketing to help promote the site. Linkbuilding is the main goal here.

Hi Chris, heres another site I use to get an idea on traffic for keywords. http://www.keyworddiscovery.com/search.html. I’m not sure how up-to-date it is, but it’s seemed to work for me and my “mini sites”. By the way, nice blog. I’ll be back for sure.

The correct link is http://www.keyworddiscovery.com/search.html - the link above doesn’t quite work.
Thanks for stopping by and I’m glad you enjoyed the site.
