“It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” tells the story of Linus and his belief in The Great Pumpkin, a character that brings presents to children that wait for him in the pumpkin patch on Halloween night. What happens when Linus gives up his Halloween candy to waith for The Great Pumpkin? Youl’ll have to watch to find out.
This year (2007) The Great Pumpkin will air Tuesday, October 30th on ABC. Showtime is 8pm Eastern, 7pm Central.
Last year “It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” celebrated its 40th anniversary with the release of a retrospective book titled “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown: The Making of a Television Classic”. The Great Pumpkin was nominated for an Emmy when it first aired in 1966.
While many of the old time Halloween Specials have faded from the public eye, The Great Pumpkin continues to live on. Perhaps due to its wholesome character, The Great Pumpkin has not been banished from television in the way that some other more racier holiday specials have been.
